Exp3 Final Submission 2

  • Landform
My valley is derived from Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon where located in Tibet. Particularly like its circuity river and various of vegetation. For my CryEngine environment, I duplicate the form while with a rocky mountain.

  • Concept
My precedent study is Thermal Vals. Two main things is the circulation study and functionality of space.
The chart prioritize the space and clarify the programme. Base on the priority chart, The following diagram reveals its layout. The studio space is the centre element in my scheme, which echoes the same idea with central pool of thermal vals. Therefore, utilizing the studio as part of circulation area and employing a different material for it come to mind.
In order to generate different notions between public and private, different floor height and ceiling height is engaged in the design process. Gallery and integrated library become the highest space, following with theatre. The studio has the lowest floor to ceiling height, while the transparent material make it different.

  • Architecture
The bridge other word means connection, to join the different parts together. Like a web to help the spider move around. This inspiring image was not only tells how the different parts joined, but also the way that light weight construction occupied the brunch. Later on, I carved out holes of floor slab to reinforce the lightness. My bridge is a three point connection rather than two, which is also a solution for my U shape valley.

This overlaid section shows how my concepts apply to the scheme. Moreover, A clear interior layout is visible.

  • Elevators and Folly
Dean's elevator is a lotus. With the idea of faculty dean brings fresh thought and architecture theory to discuss with student. It blooms when you arrived in the elevator.

Student's elevator is part of the architecture folly. I want to emphasis the role of student here, so the elevator first forms a F shape, then integrated into the folly.
